Check in Procedures for KLM Airlines

KLM Airlines offers a user-friendly and convenient method of checking in online on the KLM website. If passengers have baggage to check-in, they can drop their baggage off at a KLM kiosk 2-hours prior to the flight’s departure.

Passengers must remember to pre-print their boarding passes or request an electronic boarding pass be emailed to devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets and iPads.

Alternatively, travellers can check-in at the self-help kiosks located at the airport and print their boarding passes. Passengers can use airport check in kiosks 60-minutes prior to departure on long haul international flights. Kiosks are available anytime on the day of departure, while check-in desks and baggage drop-off points are open at 5am for all flights.

With KLM, passengers are offered a Flight Guide which can be accessed up to 6 days before their flight, via the My Trip app. From here, information such as menus, aircraft, flight and crew information is available.

Baggage Allowances When Booking Cheap Flights with KLM Airlines

Travellers flying with KLM Airlines from South Africa to any inter-continental destination, including Europe, Asia, North America and South America are permitted the following baggage allowances:

Economy Class Hand luggage

  • 1 bag: max 55 x 35 x 25 cm
  • 1 accessory: e.g. a handbag, briefcase or laptop, max. 40 x 30 x 15 cm
  • Together max weight: 12 kg

Economy Class Check-in luggage

Passengers are permitted two suitcases, each no larger than:

  • Max. 23 kg
  • Max. 158 cm (L + W + H)

Business Class Hand Luggage

  • 2 bags: max 55 x 35 x 25 cm
  • 1 accessory: e.g. a handbag, briefcase or laptop, max. 40 x 30 x 15 cm
